Oprah branched out to Paris Fashion Week this season.
The media mogul is a rare front-row presence at shows but she jetted into the City of Lights to support her friend Stella McCartney and her rainforest initiative, There She Grows. The television icon – who wore the British designer’s custom blush dress to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s wedding last year – took in the collection alongside Janelle Monáe and Karlie Kloss.
McCartney’s project allows participants to dedicate a tree in the rainforest of Sumatra, Indonesia, to a loved one of their choice, and then nominate another person to do the same. The funds raised will go towards both the Canopy foundation and the Stella McCartney Cares Foundation. McCartney already dedicated a tree to her late mother, Linda, and designated her pal Gwyneth Paltrow to spread the word.
Oprah told WWD, “I’m going to plant an oak because I already have hundreds of oaks in my yard. I’m a tree person. They represent the stability of life, the stillness of life, so I’m going to do one in honor of my mother.”
That’s a tribute that’s truly evergreen.
