Roger Stone’s trial date set for early November

Roger Stone will face trial in early November in a Washington, DC, federal courthouse on charges that he lied about trying to secretly contact WikiLeaks in 2016, Judge Amy Berman Jackson ruled Thursday.

President Trump’s longtime adviser and self-described dirty trickster’s trial is scheduled to start Nov. 5 and is likely to last about two weeks, Jackson said, according to CNN.

Stone had pleaded not guilty to seven charges of obstruction, lying to Congress and witness tampering, and was released on bail following his arrest seven weeks ago.

The trial is set so far in the future because of the mountain of evidence in the case.

“We could pile it as high as the Washington Monument twice,” Stone’s lawyer Robert Buschel told Jackson.

Stone appeared before the judge — a day after she sentenced Trump’s onetime campaign chair Paul Manafort to prison — for a hearing to settle pretrial issues and set a date.

The case is being prosecuted by special counsel Robert Mueller’s team and prosecutors from the DC US Attorney’s Office.
